Welcome to Seculert's Malware Reverse Engineering Challenge

Win 1,000 NIS + IPAD / Galaxy TAB for successfully reversing a malware!

 Challenge Rules:
  • The challenge and prizes apply only to Israeli residents, 21 years old and above.
  • You must submit a perfect malware reverse engineering solution (see below guidelines) by 2012-Aug-01 in order to win 1,000 NIS.
  • If you submit an almost perfect answer, we will send you further guidelines and directions in order to help you make it perfect.
  • In case you are able to submit a perfected answer by 2012-Aug-01, you will win 500 NIS.
  • Only the first 25 reverse engineers who submitted in time a prefect or perfected solution will win a prize and enter the "Malware Reversers Hall of Fame".
  • For the winners: If you are interested, we will invite you for an interview. In case we decide to hire you, you will recieve an ipad or a galaxy tab in addition to the prize you already won!
  • Refer this challenge to a friend (send him/her an email and CC challenge@seculert.com), and you can also win an ipad or a galaxy tab if we hire him/her!

Challenge Guidelines:
  • Download, at your own risk(!!!), the malware sample zip file from http://www.sendspace.com/file/8ihwsg
  • The password for the zip file is: infected
  • Feel free to use any reverse engineering tool you are comfortable with. We recommend
    IDA Pro / OllyDbg.
  • The solution should include the exact algorithm the malware is using in order to prepare to communicate with the attacker's server (aka C&C server).
